As a remedial massage therapist and sports scientist it is a privilege to help you perform at your best; whether that be with sporting achievements, being able to use overhead cupboards with ease or providing a space for you to reset and renew mental focus and clarity.

I'm passionate about anatomy, body systems and people moving well.

I enjoy sharing knowledge and can suggest strategies and actions that you can use to complement your treatment and provide effective relief from symptoms of muscular dysfunction, postural complaints, injuries, stress and anxiety.

Services

Remedial Massage

Sports massage - Calf

Remedial massage treatments focus on restoring optimum function and movement patterns.

Using a range of techniques to help with pain management, postural complaints, sporting or occupational injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal issues.

A treatment session includes a thorough consultation, movement assessments, massage therapy, stretches and exercise coaching.

Athlete Support - Sports Massage

Treatments are developed with a specific focus depending on where you're working in your training cycle. Lengthening approaches, percussive techniques, vibrations, assisted stretching and focused muscle contraction and release can all assist with muscle recovery, aid in flexibility and help to reduce symptoms associated with injuries.

Additional exercises and stretches can also be recommended to assist with your recovery and compliment your training regime.

Sports taping can be provided to support joints, reduce pain, change sensation or reduce swelling during competition or recovery.

Utilising the negative pressure of cupping therapy to work through areas and movement restrictions.

Cupping encourages fluid flow to the area, changes sensory input and perception, and when combined with passive and active movements can be effective at improving mobility and reducing pain associated with movement.

Functional Cupping

Deep Tissue Massage

Lower Back Sports Massage Therapy

Using techniques to warm and release muscle tension through deeper layers of muscle, and connective tissue.

The focus of treatment is to work along movement pattern chains to release tension through those connections.

Stretching, passive movement and trigger point therapy are often used to help reduce muscular tension, and improve range of movement

Relaxation Massage

Pause, unclench your jaw, take a deep breath in, drop your shoulders down and as you breathe out tuck your chin to your chest....

Relaxation treatments are focused on helping your nervous system to reset, calm your mind, and in turn release that baseline tension across your muscle groups.

Long, slow and purposeful techniques encourage your heart rate to reduce, your breathing to steady and bring a calmness to both mind and body.

Massage Session

Lava Shell Massage

Utilising heat for a deeper muscle release smoothed tiger clam shells are used to deliver a nurturing and soothing massage, reducing deep muscle tension.

The continuous heat is generated and contained within the shells, meaning there is no loss of contact during your treatment.

Heat treatments can improve circulation, reduce muscular pain and spasms and promote healing.

The shells can also provide cool treatments to aid with reducing acute pain and inflammation.

Information

Do you provide support during pregnancy?

  • No. There are many considerations that need to be taken into account when providing support during pregnancy, and this specialised training has not been a focus of my ongoing education.

Do you work with children and adolescents?

  • No. The development, rehabilitation and injury management protocols for children vary from those of adults, and this specialised training has not been a focus of my ongoing education.

Can I claim private health rebates?

  • Yes. I am a recognised provider with private health funds, and have HICAPS available onsite for on the spot claims.

I’ve been told I have bursitis, RSI, Carpal Tunnel, tennis or Golfers Elbow - can massage help?

  • Yes! Massage, in combination with a strength based exercise program, has been shown to be effective at relieving symptoms and improving outcomes. Massage can also be very effective at reducing your pain and making it easier to complete your programmed exercises.

Do you perform joint manipulations

  • No. Joint manipulations require specific training, particularly those of the vertebral column, and that is not a part of my clinical practice. Joint mobilisations are small rhythmic movements of specific joints to improve engagement, sensory input and reduce discomfort. These are different from manipulations which are often short, quick and result in a ‘pop’ sound.

Do you have experience with exercise interventions?

  • Yes. I have experience with strength and conditioning athletes, as well as improving strength and mobility with older populations. I can help you engage with exercise, as well as tailor your treatment to support your existing training programs, training loads and goals.

Will treatment hurt?

  • No. I work on the premise that if it is pain that brings you to an appointment, then my aim is to reduce that for you. Treatments can be firm, and in highly sensitised areas that can result in a tenderness however, the depth of pressure will always be adjusted to your preferences and to be within the tolerances of your body.

How does cupping work?

  • Cupping works by applying a negative pressure, and is an effective alternative when compressive massage techniques aren’t tolerable or aren’t yielding results. Cupping can change the sensory input to an area, induce an inflammatory response to stimulate a change, and can help improve mobility when used in an active treatment.

How can tape support massage?

  • Massage can be effective at changing sensation, muscle engagement, postural positioning and pain perception. Taping can support these changes, with a variety of different tapes and applications available. Tape can be used to restrict and support movement (during an acute injury phase), reduce pain and sensation (during recovery), assist with oedema management, and support postural engagement.

How is sports massage different?

  • Sports massage is tailored to where in your training block you are. Treatments can be focused on pre-event preparation, post event recovery, support pre season strength and conditioning training and assist with in season conditioning maintenance. Techniques used specifically support circulation and maintaining an ideal resting muscule length-tension relationship.

Matwork Pilates

Matwork pilates is available in clinic for existing clients in a one on one setting, or in groups of two.

Enquire as to how Pilates could assist you with your movement goals at your next treatment session.

Group Matwork Pilates is held during Spring/Summer on weekend mornings at Palm Beach.

Bookings are available online, under the group sessions tab of the online booking portal.
